Room 308, Tuesday morning

Hermione heard the announcement. She thought this would be a huge failure, yes. What's really scary is that it doesn't even alarm her anymore that her first thought was to spend tonight in the hall in a sleeping bag.

She'd made the decision that for every announcement, Umbridge needed to be negatively reinforced. Thusly, she was sitting on her bed, knitting more oddly-shaped socks and wondering whether the dildo cozy conga line should wait a couple days, or if she should just keep up with it the whole week.

[Mostly for people interested in this post. I'm headed to work soon, but will check when I can throughout the day and be back at 5:30 PST. Yay SP!

Room 308, Friday evening

Hermione has been trying to read, which was why she was ignoring her phone for so long. When she finally picks it up, she's surprised at how many messages she has. She doesn't exactly get a lot of calls.

The first is one of those calls where you're kind of left staring at the phone, and then have to listen again just to be sure you heard right. She dials the number back to leave a clear and firm dismissal. The second is confusing, and she only calls back to put him in his place.

The third actually has her shrieking "WHAT?" at nothing, thusly scaring Crookshanks into hiding, and she's not any less flaily when she returns the call.

The next is just insulting, and Hermione calls back, probably showing her frustration by now. And the fifth... Seriously? She calls back, flailing more.

She gives up. She's going to just put the phone somewhere she can't see it, and where people can't make her angry or flaily, and where the book can't piss her off.

Unless anyone else calls.

Room 308, Tuesday evening

Hermione has finally put both her studying and knitting down in order to put together the package for the proceeds from this week's clothing drive. It was more successful than she'd thought it would be, which makes her happy. She still hasn't received anything from Hogwarts, but she's decided either it's not safe to send things to her, or Umbridge has become very strict with outgoing mail.

Her hand keeps itching, though, and while she originally thought it was just from the yarn, further inspection shows her that there's one little area that's a bit red and swollen. It looks strangely like a bite, actually. She can't remember being bitten, though she does rememeber scratching her hand on the tree yesterday. There doesn't seem to be anything caught in it, so she promises to take care of it like any bite and that should do the trick.

Still, the itching has her a little distracted, so she might not be looking that carefully at what she puts in the box.

Room 308, all day

Hermione has been doing things other than studying. Like knitting. She's already written the letter to her friends back home yelling at them for not writing her like they promised, and just for that, they're going to have to distribute clothing items to the house elves.

So early in the morning she puts out a large box outside of 308 with a sign above it reading

CLOTHING DRIVE
LEAVE CLOTHES HERE, FREE A HOUSE ELF!
(Benefitting the house elves of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry)

[I'll be afk for most of the day, but feel free to stop by and leave things in the box. Clothing, knitted items, gum wrappers, that rock you've had in your shoe all day, what have you.]

Room 308, Saturday morning

Hermione is in far too good a mood, especially given how early she was awake. She had started off trying to finish the Transfiguration book, writing detailed notes, but she keeps randomly smiling and it's distracting her.

Finally she puts the book down, goes to her desk, and starts a letter.

Dear Ginny )

As soon as she's finished, she decides to head to the post office later. Now that it's all out of her system, she can go back to studying.

Room 308, Thursday afternoon

Hermione comes back to her room after getting the Transfiguration textbook from Cedric and attending her classes to find a note outside her door. She steps inside, reads it, and realizes that she has no idea who this person is. Which is kind of creepy, really, until she remembers that she didn't really notice Viktor, either. Huh.

She puts the note on her desk, wondering whether she should at least call, and while she's busy wondering that, she picks up the Transfiguration book to start reading and taking notes. Occasionally she pauses to either frown at the phone or turn one of Crookshanks' cat toys into something else. Because she has her priorities in order.

[Going to work soon, so just establishy.]

Room 308, Tuesday night

It isn't often that Hermione calls home, mostly because she tends to forget she can when she's away at school. Also, she has to admit that whatever allows her to call back to England eleven years ago and doesn't have her waking anyone up at ungodly hours of the night is pretty cool. As soon as she hangs up with her mother, she starts to pick up her book to study again, then decides to check her messages. She places a quick call in response, and then goes ahead and picks up the book, feeling better for some reason.

[Open, why not!]

Room 308, Saturday night

Hermione opens the door to her room, not turning on the light in case Kaylee's already here and asleep. She leaves the beach ball on the floor for Crookshanks, and sees the invitation from Willow for tomorrow's party, having been slipped under the door.

Edward had been nice enough, and she really was going to have to speak to Charlie about this prank war with Peter Parker. But that could wait until tomorrow. Maybe Monday. She would have to work that out. Fred is here, too, and she's happy about that. There's just that whole timeline issue that she's even more aware of now. It's not the Dumbledore she knew back home, just like it's not the same Malfoy, or Cedric, or Rita Skeeter, or even Fred. It's just a little odd knowing what happened in Fred's timeline. Then again, it didn't mean it had to happen. After all, Cedric was here...

She shakes it off because she can't do anything about something that happened in a timeline she is nowhere near, and gets ready for bed. And as she tries to fall asleep with Crookshanks lazing at the foot of the bed, she tries to remember when Malfoy said he was from...

Room 308, Thursday night

Hermione is working on letters again. She hasn't received any back yet, but she knows Harry can be a little lax on correspondence if it isn't pressing. There's no need to worry about breaking the time-space continuum with letters. Yet.

Crookshanks is somewhere. She's left the door open just enough that she could see if he left, but for the moment he's hiding.

Dear Ginny, )

Hermione is sealing the letter when she notices the owl pecking at the window, a scroll loosely tied around its neck. She opens the window and lets it hop onto the windowsill, taking the scroll and unrolling it.

She reads it quickly, not even suppressing the squeal. The first thing she does is remove her wand from its place in her desk drawer. Then she gives Ginny's letter to the owl, feeds it a piece of a cracker, and lets it on its way.

She can do magic again, though she does have restrictions. However, she has something that needs to be done. She thinks they'll understand.
