Room 308, Sunday afternoon

Hermione doesn't know why she feels the need to do this, but sometime in the afternoon she sits down at her desk to write.


Dear Harry,

I know you've already had your birthday this year, but it's your birthday tomorrow here in my timeline, so I wanted to let you know that I was thinking of you, even if you don't write me back. I've only heard a bit of what's been going on there thanks to Ginny, and I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I heard you received detention. It isn't right.

There are things I've realized I shouldn't talk about in letters no matter what the timeline or dimension, so you don't have to worry about hearing about things like that. Instead you get to hear about the weekend where we all lost our voices due to heart-stealing demons, and the next weekend everyone sang and Rory smoked and decided to drop out of school. I was not happy with that, but she seems to still be here. I can also relate about detention. They randomly pick people to serve, and I've now been picked twice! Once I had to serve it with Malfoy. I almost think he's changed some, and then he'll say something that reminds me why I don't like him. There are still a lot of very nice people around, though, and I do actually talk to them every now and then. Some are a little strange.I've even been able to interest some people in S.P.E.W. I took an Arts and Crafts class and got them to help knit. I may start a knitting drive. I'm still researching the effects on the house elves later, reintegrating them into society afterwards. It's very interesting. My classes are not exactly standard, but I'm learning a lot, and I can apply the things I do learn into other situations. I also have talked with Viktor a few times, and he says hello.

I'm not sure what to ask, since I haven't heard anything, really. How is Quidditch? I do miss watching the games. How are your classes? I'm sure you don't actually care, but you should be keeping up your studies anyway. There are things I wish I could ask, but shouldn't. Tell me what you can, and I hope to hear from you soon. Also, poke Ron to actually write as well.
