Room 308, Tuesday morning

Hermione heard the announcement. She thought this would be a huge failure, yes. What's really scary is that it doesn't even alarm her anymore that her first thought was to spend tonight in the hall in a sleeping bag.

She'd made the decision that for every announcement, Umbridge needed to be negatively reinforced. Thusly, she was sitting on her bed, knitting more oddly-shaped socks and wondering whether the dildo cozy conga line should wait a couple days, or if she should just keep up with it the whole week.


[Mostly for people interested in this post. I'm headed to work soon, but will check when I can throughout the day and be back at 5:30 PST. Yay SP!

"That's good!" Hermione said. "What did she say to that?"

"That was when she did the thing to my eyes," Aravis said, frowning. "I yelled at her and put my feet up on her desk, though, and she didn't do anything but accuse me of lying again. Which I actually was."

"Well, at least you know you made an impression?"

"But she still doesn't have my name," Aravis said, pleased. "So what are we doing about her? I...you know, I want to do more, but I'm not stupid enough to go charging in there with my sword or anything. And she's clearly more dangerous than I thought. She's got this...quill?"

"I know about the quill," Hermione said. "She used it on a friend of mine at my other school. I'm trying to go about it a little less... forcefully. Meaning I'm trying to annoy her to the point that she doesn't want to be here anymore. And I could use the numbers."

"I like annoying her," Aravis said thoughtfully. "How so?"

"So far I've charmed coconuts to make the sounds of horse hooves outside her office and made cozies throw themselves at her," Hermione said. "I'm looking for more things along those lines, even better if it's not magic."

Aravis thought for a moment. "We could alter the sugar for her tea. Switch it for salt, or worse."

Hermione actually shuddered. "I think that would work pretty well," she said, making a face.

"I'd just guess she uses a lot," Aravis replied, making a face. "Can we do something about those damn plates?"

"Sam mentioned him and Dean shooting them," Hermione told her. It should horrify her that this didn't faze her.

Aravis grinned. "Good for them. If the mewling of the remaining plates doesn't irritate her, though, then I expect something like incessant humming outside her door wouldn't do much, would it?"

"Of course not. I'm sure it wouldn't even register," Hermione said seriously.

"It'd drive me mad. Says a bit about her mental state, doesn't it?"

"Of course, it might depend on what was being hummed."

Aravis tilted her head. "I don't know any particularly irritating songs, do you?"

"I'll introduce you to some 80's music," Hermione promised.

"That sounds ominous," Aravis decided. "In any instance, I can do anything needed. Aside from magic, of course, but I can pick locks and whatnot."

"I'll remember that," she said. "That's definitely a good skill to have."

Seriously, a month ago if you asked if she ever thought she'd be saying this...
