Cthulhu cabin, Alcove #, Sunday afternoon

Hermione's having another really bad day. This would be due to the pile of rubble that is now the school (and don't think that didn't get a freaked out squeak from her), a return to the dorms to drop off her things and wtf, only to find a note from Rikku that reminds her that they're back in cabins. She's been a little distracted. She packs up her things again, despite still not feeling well apart from what can be politely described as the jet lag from hell, and goes to find Cthulhu cabin.

Once there, she puts her things in the empty alcove on her side and makes two phone calls before settling in.

[I've never known what alcove to be in.
Open, especially if she called you.]

It hadn't taken Prue very long to find Hermione's cabin (what the hell was a cthulhu?). She felt kind of awkward about being somebody's little sister when she's been an older sister for the last twenty-something years.

"Um...Hermione?" she called out into the cabin. She didn't want to just barge into somebody's alcove.

"Over here," Hermione calls, poking her head out of her alcove to see who's calling her.

Prue smiled and headed over to Hermione's alcove. "Hi, I'm Prue Halliwell."

"Oh, hello. It's good to meet you," Hermione says with a smile. "I'm sorry I haven't been around."

"Oh it's not a problem." said Prue, waving her hand in dismissal. "Turns out I know quite a few people here."

"Really?" she asks. "Like who?"

Not that Hermione knows anything about people you know popping up here.

Prue ran a hand through her hair. "Oh you know. My two nephews, my little sister and her demonic boyfriend. The usual."

Hermione's eyebrows arch up, but her next question is, "Are they all from your reality or timeline?"

"Oh jeez, we're from all over the place!" Prue said. "My youngest sister is now older than me and I'm the same age as one of my nephews."

"Luckily I'm sort of used to this weird stuff." She actually thought she was still the weird one here since, hello, she's dead. "I haven't been too traumatized yet."

"Good. This town seems like it tries very hard to traumatize people sometimes," she says. "Have you heard much about it?"

"Um, no, not really. Do you happen to know why the school seems to be in shambles?" she asked. "Or is it some sort of new-age architecture that I don't get?"

"I have no idea," says Hermione, and her eye might twitch the tiniest bit at that. The poor school. "It was fine when I left, I'm not sure if one of the students got ambitious with a chemistry project or if I missed an invasion."

"Invasions? Do those happen often?" asked Prue. "It's no big deal if they do, I can handle myself. But I'd like to know if I have to start looking under my bed at night."

Rikku hopped by the cabins Sunday afternoon, wandering until she found Cth- Cuth- Okay, it was spelled weird for how Hermione had pronounced it, but whatever it was called, here it was.

She knocked, bouncing a little to herself and holding a package of sorts.

Hermione gets up to open the door, smiling when she sees Rikku. "Hi," she says, letting her in.

"Hey!" Rikku stepped through the doorway, holding a cardboard box in front of her. "My wrapping sucks, but I got you something. From Spira. How were exams?! Did you kick butt on them? 'Cause I know you had to."

"You didn't have to do that," Hermione says, taking the box. "And I think I did all right. It was a bit hectic at the end there and Ancient Runes had a few mistakes I could kick myself for..."

"I'm sure you did way better than you think. Were there more finals at the end of the week, then?"

"It's not much. I was going to get you a couple of history-of-Spira type books? But there really aren't that many, 'cause Yevon kinda trashed a lot of them. If you wanna know anything, you have to find this old guy who knows it all and get him to tell you. So ..." She gestured vaguely to the box. "He made some memory spheres. You'll have to listen to him, and he takes forever to get to the point, but he knows a lot of cool stuff."

"Oh!" Speaking of books had reminded her. "The school was blown up by aliens, but I wasn't here. And nobody was hurt too bad and the library is totally, totally safe."

She opens the box, studying its contents and grinning broadly. "Thank you so much, Rikku. This is so cool," she says, and yes, it even warrants 'cool'. "And yeah, I was taking tests every day. I think it's Thursday for me now, really.

"...Blown up by aliens?"

"Oh! I'm glad you like them!" Rikku smiled broadly. "And whoa, that's gotta mess with you. The whole messing around with days thing. It's Sunday, if nobody told you yet."

And nodded. "Yeah, some weird alien things invaded graduation and zapped the school. The dorms are okay and all that and nobody was hurt too badly. I can't believe I missed it!"

"I hope they'll have rebuilt it for fall," Hermione says, frowning. "So, how was your trip?"

"They should, right? I mean, if not, maybe we can have classes out here, and all of that. Although the summer classes seem kind of ... unusual. In a good way. I'm taking one about annoying teachers, and, Hermione? I can't get in trouble for it." She stopped to put a hand over her heart. "I can't believe I'm gonna get away with that one."

"The trip home was awesome. We went boarding everywhere, and Yunie, with Tidus! I cried. I don't care if that's silly. We ended up not killing fiends but it's okay. And we took in a blitz game and rode chocobos and I have so many pictures and I'm gonna make you sit through them sometime." She sighed contentedly. "Oh! How about you? I mean, I know you had exams mostly, but you got to see your friends again, right?"

Hermione's jaw just drops at the thought of a class about annoying teachers. In order to not have an aneurysm on the spot, she says, "I'm so glad you had a good time. Mine was.... It started out good. The last couple of days were something like a disaster."

Rikku eyed her roommate, trying to read her expression. "Because ... exams and all that, or ... something else? Is ... is everything okay?"

"Rikku, it was..." She takes a deep breath. "Harry got this completely wrong idea in his head and wanted to go running off to London because he was so convinced he was right, only he wasn't, and there were Death Eaters and apparently Voldemort showed up and someone was killed and..." Another sigh. "It went very badly."
