Room 308, Monday night

Hermione's trying very hard to finish off her letter to the Ministry. She got them to let her use magic here, so maybe they'll be easier-going on her without Harry's influence, and Professor McGonagall already said she'd help argue her case if need be, but still, she wants this to be perfect. And if all goes well, she'll be able to be back at Hogwarts in June just to take her O.W.L.S.

Crooshanks is at the foot of her bed... doing absolutely nothing.

After trying to find some resolution with his mentor, Jamie decided that the next thing to do was to check out one of the magical type people going to this school to see if she would be able to help.

He scampered into the room and yipped to get Hermione's attention.

Hermione looks up, frowning. "Hello," she says, just as Crookshanks starts hissing at him. "Crookshanks, no."

Jamie gave the cat a nervous look. Damn that thing was ugly.

//Hi. I don't suppose you speak dog do you?// Jamie said.

Of course to the normal person that just sounded like a dog yipping and making strange noises.

Rikku clapped her hands excitedly. "Oooh, it's a dog! Helloooo, puppy!"

//I'm not a dog!// Jamie barked in a frustrated manner. //I'm Jamie Madrox. I'm just dog shaped at the moment.//

Hermione puts the letter down, careful not to crush it, and picks up Crookshanks to keep him from being horrible. After Scabbers, he's a little skittish sometimes. "Do you belong to someone?" she asks, not really expecting an answer.

Jamie sighed and face-pawed. Actually his sigh was more like a wee-tiny chihuahua howl.

//Fine. This worked for Skywalker,// Jamie growled.

Jamie scampered full steam at the wall and knocked his doggie head into it.

Creating two more chihuahuas.

All of them slightly woozy from the head bumping and staggering around the room a little bit.

Rikku gasped. "Whoa! Did you see that? He just split!"

She got down on her hands and knees next to the dog - now dogs. "Are you hurt? Er, any of you?!"

"That's Jamie!" Hermione says. "What happened to you?"

After getting a call (http://x5-alec.livejournal.com/1934.html?thread=909966#t909966) on Saturday, Alec had put it on his to-do list to drop by sometime.

So there he was, with a box under one arm as he knocked at Hermione's door.

"It's open," she calls, and has now reached the point in her letter where she's even dotting her I's perfectly.

Opening the door, Alec poked his head in curiously. "Hermione? I got your voice mail," he said by way of greeting.

Hermione's not blushing at all, really. "Oh, hi," she says. "Sorry about that, by the way. They were just... requested."

"Really?" Alec grinned, moving further into the room with his cardboard box. "I mean, that's cool. I've got another box of stuff here, but if anyone wants anything specific, I can do that too."

Rikku looked up and waved. And looked back down at her machina. Not blushing, either. Not because she saw Alec naked during a mutiny. That totally didn't happen, and thus Rikku? Is over here, on her bed, minding her own business and not blushing at all. Much.

"Thank you so much," Hermione tells Alec. "Apparently the house elves- or one of them, anyway, and that's a lot- has taken to wearing some of your other knitting efforts."

"Hey Rikku," Alec said, grin widening as she avoided looking at him.

He gave Hermione an odd look as she explained and picked one of the dildo cozies out of the box. "They're wearing them??

Sometime in the middle of the night, Hermione's still laying awake, kind of afraid to close her eyes. Though it's dark, and that doesn't really help much.

"Rikku?" she says, quietly in case she is asleep.

One. After the other. Maybe an assembly .... line?!

Rikku rolled over to face her roommate. "Hermione! You're still up?"

She sounded very, very grateful.

"I can't sleep," Hermione says, pouting at the ceiling.

Rikku shivered and pulled the covers closer around her. "I don't want to sleep," she said.

"The post office must be closed at this hour, right?" Maybe if she can just get the box out of the room, they can forget all about this.

Rikku stared at the ceiling, trying to think. Happy to think. Think about something that wasn't a ...

"Yeah. Probably. Hey, don't you have owls that mail things?" She was hopeful.

"Not with me," she says. "They stay at the post office unless Ron or Harry's owls bring me something."

After a moment, she gets up, trying not to stub her toe or step on her cat, and then there are sounds something like a cardboard box being moved to just outside the door.

Rikku closed her eyes. That was bad. She opened them again.

"Did you, uh. Did you know that, uh. That people, uh. Did you?"
