Room 308, Monday evening

Hermione has a ball python. She's still not sure about this, but it's also not going to burn or sting her, so it's a step up from Hagrid's idea of pets.

Crookshanks keeps hissing at it, though, causing Hermione to roll her eyes as she tries to peruse through a book on caring for the new pet. "Crookshanks, behave. Wadsworth isn't going to hurt you."

Crookshanks completely ignores her. Though honestly, Wadsworth is ignoring Crookshanks, so it's really all right.

"I got chased by a dinosaur," Hermione tells her kind of way too calmly, putting the book down. "And this is Wadsworth. He's my pet for Creatures class."

Rikku stared at Hermione for a few moments before nodding. "When I get home tomorrow," she said very calmly, "you are never going to believe the crazy dream I had."

Hermione frowns, wondering whether Fandom's gone insane again on her already. "Want to tell me about it?" she asks very slowly.

"Sure!" Rikku chirped, sitting down on her bed with a bounce. "See, I woke up in Denmark and then there was nudity and you so don't wanna hear about that, right? And then we came back to Fandom and it was several hours earlier 'cause people on this world live in different times if you're far away from each other! And then I went downtown and told Chad about this song that I thought was just the voices in my head the other day but he knew it and helped me find it on CD! And then I went to class and we had weird weapon-things with smoke coming out of them and if you breathed it in, then you got superpowers and were all really calm and mellow and had, like, supreme enlightenment but you giggled a lot. Now I'm back here and you've got a snake-thing for class. Oh! And there were dinosaurs while I was gone, and Luke and Dawn and I are gonna have a pyjama party."

She nodded very quickly. "The next part of the dream is that I totally told all of you this and you thought I was crazy."

"That's a... pretty strange dream," Hermione says, again very slowly, wondering if maybe she should start thinking 'clinic'. "Maybe you should lie down and finish it?"

"It totally is," Rikku said. "And I'm kinda tired since it's been an extra-long day what with Denmark living six hours in the future. Do you think if I go to sleep I'll wake up for real? I wonder if Jude's gonna be a Jude again and not a kitty."

"I think sleep might help you wake up for real, yes," Hermione says soothingly. "And after you do wake up for real, you can check on Jude."

She might hug Rikku when she's hyper again. Even Crookshanks is watching, if not exactly interested, as he is a cat.

"Okay, yeah," Rikku said, sorting through her drawers for her PJs. "Denmark's kinda pretty, you know. The castle. I hope you and your python get along. I mean, if he's real and all."

"I hope so too," Hermione says, and yeah, the python looks very real to her still. "I hope everyone gets along very nicely. And tomorrow you'll have to tell me all about Demark."

Rikku slipped into her PJs rather sleepily and nodded, stifling a yawn. "It was ... I'm glad I went but I'm kinda not glad I had to go and the guy's a jerk but I guess he'll be an okay king or whatever, and Horatio's ... you know. I think he'll be okay. I mean, it's just ... you know."

She forgot where that was supposed to be going and didn't bother holding back the yawn this time, climbing under the covers. "Okay. Night, Hermione."

"Good night, Rikku," Hermione says.

There'll be water and aspirin in the morning. Just in case.
