Room 308, Friday evening

Hermione isn't exactly the girliest of all girls, but that doesn't mean she hasn't checked the mirror about thirty times. And, unlike the last dance she went to, she probably won't end this one yelling at anyone.

Hm. It's been thirty seconds. Time to check the mirror again.

"That's very sweet," she says, still smiling. "Thank you. Um. Let me put this down?"

JD nods and waits patiently for Hermione, trying to watch her slyly.

You will not be a dork. You will not be a dork. Um. Conversation. Quick. Make conversation.

"So, where are you from? All I really know about you is that you have a secret creative streak and a knack for paint."

And you like daisies too.

"England," she says, and opens the corsage. "Though that may be a little obvious. I'm one of the many here."

"I always wanted to go England. Pip! Pip! and all that. Unfortunately, I've never left the states, unless you count day trips to Tijuana."

JD is watching her open the corsage. He really hopes she likes it. He's never bought something like that for a girl before.

She does, and smiles when she puts it on. "You go on day trips to Tijuana often?"

JD looks a little shifty just then, and lowers his voice. He leans in a bit closer. "Ok, I'll be honest. By day trip I mean going down with my dad and waiting in the car while he hangs out in a seedy bar." His voice gets a bit pouty. "I wanted to go Sea World."

"Oh, I'm sorry," she says. "But... you could still go to Sea World now."

JD shrugged. "My Dad isn't really the family fun type, if you know what I mean." He smiled brightly at her. "But, once I become a doctor, its the first thing I'm going to do."

Doesn't matter how hard he tried. He couldn't resist the superhero pose at the word "doctor."

She looks very interested when she says, "You want to be a doctor? My parents are dentists. Not the same thing, I know, but... Forget I said that?"

JD let his whole face go blank. "Forget you said what?" He grinned, "Your secret is safe with me. You do get to eat candy and stuff, though, right?"

"Not at home," she says. "At school, it's an entirely different story."

JD grinned wider. "Excellent. And what, may I ask, is your opinion of candy necklaces?" he teased.

I love them!

"I don't think I've ever had one," she admits.

JD offers a look of mock shock. "Well, one of these days, we'll have to do something about that."

He proffered his arm to Hermione.

"Shall we go forth then, fair lady?"

Got your mojo on. Oh yeah.

"We shall," she says, giving him her arm.
