Room 308, Thursday afternoon

Sometime after her little meeting with Umbridge, Hermione went back to her room and started on a mental to-do list.


1. Call Harry.
With no instructions from Dumbledore not to, Hermione was able to pick up the phone and call the Dursley house. She'd tried calling him before, then realized that the Dursleys kind of didn't want wizarding types calling their house, and pretended to be a neighbor who wanted to yell at Harry for something. Horrifyingly, that got them to give him the phone right away. He couldn't do anything about it, but at least she got to share an omgwtf moment and assure him that she was not letting this happen at two of her schools if she could help it.

2. Call her parents.
Umbridge had mentioned them a little too much for Hermione's comfort, so if they happened to get a little push towards taking that vacation they'd been talking about, well.

3. Call Alec.

4. Write letter to the school board.
It was long and detailed, telling all about what she knew of Umbridge's issues at Hogwarts and all the decrees she'd instated and the scars on Harry's hand. Of course, Hermione totally didn't realize that the school board might not take a sixteen-year-old who disliked her principal seriously, especially with some of those claims.

5. Feed Crookshanks.
Because pets needed to eat.

6. Get back to work on her knitting.
Because this Umbridge had no idea what had been done with the dildo cozies, so it would be a nice surprise when they charmed themselves right into her office.


#6 was what Hermione was working on for the rest of the afternoon. She was terrible at it, but she was determined. And she'd left the door open on purpose.

"Oh so you've met her then?" asked Prue. "I'm not overreacting about how evil she is? Because I've seen demons and I've dealt with the Source of All Evil and quite frankly, I liked them better."

"Holy crap," Tori felt that was the only thing she could say. "She tortured a friend of yours? Oh no, not cool at all," she fumed. "There's no way I'm going to let that happen here. No way," Tori was making that a promise. No one got away with something like that, whether it was at Fandom or somewhere else.

"She's from a different reality than I am, but I met her this summer when I went back to school for my exams. She'd spent the whole year terrorizing the school as a teacher and then as headmistress, which I'd like to point out, is a position she did not earn, thought using Veri- um, truthfulness potion on a student was a good way to get information... She's horrible."

Seely knocked on the door-frame. "Hey."

"Hi, Seely," Hermione greeted him, sighing at her sock. Yes, sock. It had turned into a sock. Dildo cozies didn't have a heel unless there was something a bit different there. "Did you hear the announcement, too?"

"The students at Hogwarts got a bit... creative," Hermione said. "What worries me is that everyone here is so different in their powers and abilities, I'm not sure how she'll take to that."

"It's too bad you guys don't have something about using magic for your own gain in your reality. Umbridge would be screwed in that case." said Prue. She had her own truth spell bite her in the ass once.

"She insinuated that my sister wasn't fit to teach magic here. Which is ridiculous." Prue said bitterly. "I don't think she's going to be too happy with the other teachers either."

"Yeah, I did," Seely nodded. "Which is why I'm looking for Rikku."

Hermione was sort of impressed by the questions. "The school itself caught on pretty quickly, except for Mr. Filch, who was just happy to be able to punish students," she answered. "She attempted to use Veritaserum at least once to force answers out of people, but for the most part I think it was intimidation. The teachers could't do anything because the Ministry of Magic appointed Umbridge to the position and she was there to interfere for them, and the teachers wouldn't have let us handle her on our own. And we got rid of her by letting centaurs carry her off, but I know that won't work again."

"You don't think How to Blow Things Up would be on a normal school's cirriculum?" Hermione asked dryly. "BEtween the teachers and the students, I don't see this going well. She's a bit on the narrow-minded side, if I put it nicely."

"She's not here right now," she said. "...Do I even want to know?"

Tori nodded, understanding. "Maybe it will intimidate her? And make her want to leave?" She sincerely doubted that, but one could hope. "I have a feeling the students here will get very creative, with trying to get rid of her."

"I can't see that meshing well with this school." said Prue. "I wonder how much damage she can possibly do before Zoe finds out and comes back, pregnant or not."

"I figured it might be nice to give our temporary principal a good, old-fashioned welcome," Seely said, and shuddered. "Maybe paint over those plates too."

Hermione shook her head. "She won't be intimidated. Anyone who thinks they can is just being silly," she said. "I've already started a letter to the school board to take this through proper channels and I'm starting on annoyance tactics."

Yes, it was just Hermione who said that.

"Did the teachers know about her quill? Or did your Ministry wield that much control?" He could only imagine the look on his father's face if he found out about that...probably better not to mention it for the time being.

"And how did she use the Veritaserum?" Luke asked. "Does it need to be ingested, or spread around the skin or something?"

He blushed faintly. "Sorry. Before school I watched people run a revolution. I guess I learned more than I thought I had."

"No, that's perfectly all right," she said, smiling a little excitedly. "Usually I'm the one having to ask all the questions. I don't think the quill was common knowledge, or I know one teacher who would have kicked Umbridge out ofthe school herself. And the Veritaserum is a sort of truth-telling potion. It's easily slipped into tea, so I wouldn't take anything she gives you."

"I really, really don't want to know," Hermione said. "But maybe the other teachers would help. Hades... maybe?"

"Anything I can do to help, either way? I'm in," Tori offered. She was totally behind making Umbridge leave, one-hundred percent. "Really, if there's anything you'd like me to do, let me know."

"So you've been to her office as well," Hermione said. "I wouldn't recommend an Umbridge detention, if you can avoid it. Just to warn you."

Luke walked into the room and sprawled out on the floor. "Do you think she'll change tactics because she knows you're here?" he asked, leaning back against his hands, "or is she egotistical enough to think we won't catch on?"

"She gives me the heebie-jeebies," Seely replied. "And it would be worth it, to get rid of those plates, and that colour scheme."

"First, deny all knowledge of any knitting activities," Hermione told her. "She'll know it's me, no need to get into trouble for knowing. Other than that, I appreciate the help. I'm sure it'll be needed soon."

Prue nodded. "He's not going to like being pushed around. Ares, too. Both have got a massive God complex. Not surprising given that they are Gods but still..."

"Pompous enough to believe we won't do any good against her, I think," she said, tapping a knitting needle thoughtfully. "And I did tell her I was from a different reality than she is, so she might assume I don't know what her tactics are."
